The Dictionary of the Catalan Language (DIEC), developed by the Institute of Catalan Studies, serves as the authoritative resource defining the lexical standards of the Catalan language. Since its initial publication in April 2007, the second edition has undergone several updates. Through this app, users have access to the most comprehensive and current version, which is regularly revised to incorporate approved amendments.

The Institute of Catalan Studies (Institut d’Estudis Catalans) is an academic, scientific, and cultural organization dedicated to advanced research across various facets of Catalan culture. The institution’s official language is Catalan, and its recognized jurisdiction encompasses regions where Catalan language and culture are prevalent. Its role as a language academy was officially established in 1991 under Law 8/1991, which assigns the Institute the authority to develop and update linguistic standards for Catalan.
